Actovegin® (5 ml) Deproteinized calf blood hemodic

Patients with diseases of the peripheral and central nervous systems are treated with antioxidants, antiplatelet agents and vasoactive drugs. Doctors can prescribe Actovegin tablets during hypoxia, edema, trauma, which cause a lack of oxygen in the cells. Familiarize yourself with the release form, composition, indications for use, mechanism of action, and drug analogues.

Actovegin - from what helps

Actovegin has a complex effect on nerve cells. The drug is often used in the treatment of diseases that are associated with the nervous system. The medicine has such properties:

  • increases glucose uptake
  • improves oxygen absorption by tissues
  • stimulates metabolism (cell metabolism),
  • promotes oxygen utilization, glucose transport to the body tissues.

Each person has limiters of normal energy metabolism functions (tissues are not supplied with oxygen, oxygen absorption is disturbed, hypoxia occurs), and vice versa, increasing energy consumption (tissue regeneration). The drug helps to improve the absorption of substances by the body, has a positive effect on the blood supply system. Especially effective remedy for circulatory disorders.

Dosage Form

Solution for injection 40 mg / ml - 2 ml, 5 ml

active substance - deproteinized hemoderivat blood of calves (in terms of dry substance) * 40.0 mg.

Excipients: water for injections

* contains about 26.8 mg of sodium chloride

Transparent, yellowish solution.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Actovegin is an antihypoxant. It is obtained by the use of dialysis and ultrafiltration. The drug has a good effect on the transportation and utilization of glucose, stabilizes the plasma membrane of cells during ischemia through oxygen consumption. The tool begins to act after half an hour after ingestion. The maximum effect can be observed after 3 hours.

Pharmacokinetics has not been studied deeply, but all the components of the drug are present in the body in its natural form. A decrease in the pharmacological effect of the drug was not found in people with hepatic or renal insufficiency, changes in the metabolism associated with older age. The effect on newborns is not fully understood, especially considering the peculiarities of their metabolism, therefore it is recommended to use it with caution and only as prescribed by the attending physician.

Actovegin - indications for use

Due to the infusion of the drug, the concentration of hemoglobin, DNA and hydroxyproline increases. According to the instructions annotation, these tablets are used only as an auxiliary drug for:

  • ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes,
  • head injuries and encephalopathy,
  • violations of arterial circulation,
  • disorders of the venous circulation.

In case of diabetes, the remedy reduces pain or burning in the lower extremities, is used for burns, except for the 4th degree, for healing wounds and other skin lesions. In addition, the tool helps to improve:

  • metabolism,
  • venous blood supply to the brain,
  • peripheral circulation.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacokinetics

It is impossible to study the pharmacokinetic characteristics (absorption, distribution, elimination) of Actovegin®, since it consists only of the physiological components that are usually present in the body.

Actovegin® has an antihypoxic effect, which begins to manifest itself no later than 30 minutes after parenteral administration and reaches a maximum on average after 3 hours (2-6 hours).

Pharmacodynamics

Actovegin® antihypoxant. Actovegin® is hemoderivate, which is obtained by dialysis and ultrafiltration (compounds with a molecular weight of less than 5,000 daltons pass). Actovegin® causes organ-independent intensification of energy metabolism in the cell. Actovegin® activity is confirmed by measuring increased absorption and increased utilization of glucose and oxygen. These two effects are interrelated, and they lead to an increase in the production of ATP, thereby providing a greater degree of energy needs of the cell. Under conditions that limit the normal functions of energy metabolism (hypoxia, lack of substrate), and with increased energy consumption (healing, regeneration) Actovegin® stimulates the energy processes of functional metabolism and anabolism. The secondary effect is increased blood supply.

The effect of Actovegin® on the absorption and utilization of oxygen, as well as insulin-like activity with stimulation of glucose transport and oxidation, are important in the treatment of diabetic polyneuropathy (DPN).

In patients with diabetes mellitus and diabetic polyneuropathy Actovegin® reliably reduces the symptoms of polyneuropathy (stabbing pain, burning sensation, parasthesia, numbness in the lower limbs). Disorders of sensitivity are objectively reduced, the patients' mental state improves.

Dosage and administration

Actovegin®, solution for injection, is used intramuscularly, intravenously (including in the form of infusions) or intraarterially.

Instructions for the use of ampoules with one break point:

Take the vial so that the top containing the label is at the top. Gently tapping the finger and shaking the ampoule, allow the solution to flow down from the tip of the ampoule. Break off the top of the ampoule by pressing on the label.

a) Usually recommended dose:

Depending on the severity of the clinical picture, the initial dose is 10-20 ml intravenously or intraarterially, further in 5 ml iv / or slowly intramuscularly daily or several times a week.

When used as an infusion, 10-50 ml are diluted in 200-300 ml of isotonic sodium chloride solution or 5% dextrose solution (basic solution), the speed of administration is about 2 ml / min.

Venous ulcers of the lower extremities: 10 ml (400 mg) intravenously or 5 ml intramuscularly daily or 3-4 times a week depending on the healing process

The duration of treatment is determined individually according to the symptoms and severity of the disease.
